What to do in Gödöllő!
On Saturday, Tahran, LB (Laura Beth), Orsi and I took a day trip to Gödöllő, Hungary. I honestly haven’t really been too far outside of Budapest so it was nice to get out of the city for a day! Gödöllő is a town of about 30,000. It has the largest palace in Hungary and there is also a large, Hungarian university there. I would also venture to say that this would be a really cool, quaint city to visit in the summer.
The palace was really beautiful and of course it was worth the trip but wow - the place was pretty much shut down!
Here is a beautiful, frosty picture of the palace from a far…
And a closer look….
We ate at the cafe in the palace, and here is a very traditional Hungarian treat, a pogácsa (pronounced poh-ga-cha). They are these sorta cheesey bread things… sorta like unlevened bread… only I am quite sure they do have yeast in them so that doesn’t quite make sense either. I would venture to say they are sold at every bakery and metro station in Hungary! Yummy!
Here we are (Orsi, myself and Tahran) gettin’ a layout of the land. Notice the background there… it was COLD.
This is celcius… but it is still COLD!!
Tahran and I in front of some church….
In the end, even when it’s FREEZING cold and pretty much the whole town is shut down, it’s more about the company you keep, no? Was a fun day and a worthwhile trip!

Oh Jessie!! Such good times…and those photos you took are AMAZING….I had fun hanging out with ya’ll…Christmas break was definitely a highlight of my year here….see you soon, LB
