What to do in Gödöllő!

Godollo Freedom Square

On Saturday, Tahran, LB (Laura Beth), Orsi and I took a day trip to Gödöllő, Hungary. I honestly haven’t really been too far outside of Budapest so it was nice to get out of the city for a day! Gödöllő is a town of about 30,000. It has the largest palace in Hungary and there is also a large, Hungarian university there. I would also venture to say that this would be a really cool, quaint city to visit in the summer. :) The palace was really beautiful and of course it was worth the trip but wow - the place was pretty much shut down!

Here is a beautiful, frosty picture of the palace from a far…

And a closer look….

Front of the palace

We ate at the cafe in the palace, and here is a very traditional Hungarian treat, a pogácsa (pronounced poh-ga-cha). They are these sorta cheesey bread things… sorta like unlevened bread… only I am quite sure they do have yeast in them so that doesn’t quite make sense either. I would venture to say they are sold at every bakery and metro station in Hungary! Yummy!

Here we are (Orsi, myself and Tahran) gettin’ a layout of the land. Notice the background there… it was COLD.

Looking at the map in the FREEZING cold.

Still cold, still searching....

This is celcius… but it is still COLD!!

Negative two!!

Close up...

In the end, even when it’s FREEZING cold and pretty much the whole town is shut down, it’s more about the company you keep, no? Was a fun day and a worthwhile trip!
