A Day in the Sun

Cori and I woke up this morning and Cori said she wanted 40 minutes of rigorous exercise before she got off to her conference. Little did we know when she said ‘rigorous’ that how true it would be….

We walked straight down the paved road from our hotel towards the water. What we found there was sooooo beautiful. As we approached between the two high rock walls we could see the gorgeous blue water. Wow.

Rock walls going towards the Mediterranean

Walkin' down the road

Sooooo beautiful

As we rounded the corner, we could see something below… whoa - a pool. A really complacent looking pool on the edge of the water.

Blue waters and a glimpse of the pool

The pool... our pool!

I was delighted to find that this pool was indeed one of our hotel’s pool and it was then that I knew where I would be spending my day. :)

Delta Hotel, Mallorca, Spain

Well, the road back to the hotel was our rigorous exercise. But it was no sweat really, we both have been trained by the 100 stairs at my flat in Budapest. :)

We had breakfast and Cori was off to her conference. I went back to the room as it was a little hazy out still and was doing my devotional and go oh so sleepy. I crashed for almost 3 hours!!! Whoops. I woke up and wandered down to the little strip mall to buy a razor (which I forgot) and some bottled water. Then I gathered my things and headed down to the pool. This pool really was incredible. The weather was PERFECT. Not a cloud in the sky, cool breeze and 75 degrees. I was thinking, “This is vacation.” Cori came down and meet me for lunch at the pool where I had swordfish and a fresh, green lettuce salad (this is a rare find in Budapest so I was quite overjoyed). The rest of my afternoon I spent slathering on the sunscreen, reading one of my Karen Kingsbury books (totally frivolous reading) and napping on and off. The view from the pool was really incredible. It is on the edge of rocky water of which is different shades of brilliant blue because of the different depths of the water and the rock below. There were a few sailboats or yachts that would sail lazily by now and again with a backdrop of green hills in the background from a distant side of the island.

My view from the pool

I tried to get some decent pictures but I never think the pictures turn out as beautiful as the scene really is. Especially if there is a silvery shine on the water I want to capture… never seems to come out quite so brilliant. I’ll try to keep the pictures fresh in my mind as long as possible….

Silver shine on the water... in real life it was even more brilliant!

  1. WOW! That looks amazing. We know where we are going to spend our next vacation. Hope you get some great rest.

Tell Cori to get back to work. I don’t think you can count it as work if it looks that pretty when you come out of the meetings. I think she needs to take vacation days for that :) Hope you guys have a wonderful time.

It is so GREAT to check out your blog! I totally miss Budapest and Europe in general. I am not even in good old Indiana, but Mississippi…yeah totally different. Anyway I love checking up on you because you are always visiting somewhere different! Anyway I am getting married here in a month and maybe we’ll make it over to Budapest area for missions someday! I miss you! Know that I think about you! Kara

  3. Wow….I see what I missed and I am not happy about it. However, I will vicariously live it thru you. You really could be a writer/author. You are so good about giving us the details of your life there and making at least me…feel like I was there when these different events took/take place. Miss you….
